Science Meets Oktoberfest

The panel discussion “Science Meets Oktoberfest” features alumni of German universities and universities of applied sciences. The following scientists will take part in the event:

  • Ralf Bundschuh, PhD, Professor of Physics, Chemistry & Biochemistry, and Hematology at the Ohio State University (Alumnus of the University of Cologne)
  • Heike Haddenbrock, Dipl, Principal at German Language School Cleveland and Board Member of the GermanLanguage School Conference
  • Safiya Khurshid, PhD, Postdoctoral Fellow at the Nationwide Children's Hospital, Columbus, OH (Alumna of the University of Cologne)
  • Nathanial Long, Graduate Student, Master of Public Administration at John Glenn College of Public Affairs, Ohio State University
  • Jacob Naduparambil, PhD, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Research Ambassador and Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology
  • Mark. E. Peeples, PhD, Principal Investigator at the Center for Vaccines and Immunity at the Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital, and a Professor of Pediatrics and Molecular & Cellular Biochemistry at the Ohio State University College of Medicine

They will present their various career paths, highlight the relevance of their studies and research in Germany, and discuss the role Germany plays for them today. Welcoming remarks by the German Consul General (tbc) will precede the panel and a networking reception with beer and bratwurst will follow.

The Deutschland Ambassadors Initiative brings together alumni and friends of various German universities for a series of talks and networking events in the United States. This event is organized by German universities and their liaison
offices based in New York. Interested parties are invited to join a growing network of people from diverse backgrounds, ages, and professions who share an interest in Germany.
